鹅卵石堆集，
光秃秃。

添置一个巨大容器，
注入活水……
再涂抹几丝水草。

乌龟向高处走；
乌龟往水底游。

活水，漫过鹅卵石，
水草爬上基座……
爬下台阶。

花园造就。
花园成了囚笼、水牢；
花园成了乌龟的坟墓。

A square pedestal,
pebbles piled high,
bare and smooth.

Add a huge container,
pour in living water…
then lay a few strands of water grass.

The turtle climbs upward;
the turtle dives to the bottom.

Living water spills over the pebbles,
water grass creeps up the pedestal…
slides down the steps.

The garden is born.
The garden becomes a prison, a watery cell;
the garden becomes the turtle’s grave.
