hyperventilation-syndrome

  • Explain to the patient the connection between their symptoms and hyperventilation to relieve psychological stress and reduce fear.
  • Patients should be taught proper breathing techniques, including diaphragmatic and slow breathing, to reduce or eliminate the tendency for hyperventilation by lowering the respiratory rate.
  • During acute episodes, rebreathing therapy (using a face mask or paper bag) can be applied to increase the CO₂ concentration in the inhaled air, thereby alleviating symptoms.
  • When necessary, medications such as oryzanol, bromides, or mild sedatives may be administered.
