Not a Tree, But a Forest

I used to think that lighting up one spot would illuminate the whole room. But the bulb shattered, and the wires tangled into a hopeless knot. Then, from the end of the hallway, an old melody drifted in. I followed the tune, stepping over torn pages of notes along the way. Sentences I once deemed useless now glittered like candy scattered across the floor. It’s not that I understood them — it’s that they suddenly allowed me to come close.

Knowledge isn’t a tree. It’s a forest, where each tree tells a different dream.
